Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has accused the police of shooting at him on his way to inspect the State House of Assembly Complex that was gutted by fire on Sunday, October 29.
According to the governor, the alleged team that attacked him was led by a senior officer in the Rivers State Police Command.
Fubara stated this while addressing a crowd of supporters at the Government house gate on Monday, October 30.
The governor said the team was deployed to obstruct his access to the complex and they shot at him.
“They were shooting at me, directly. But it does not matter. Somebody will die. I want to die so when people hear Fubara, they will say, who is this Fubara, he is that man who was killed that time over a struggle.
“I’m not against anybody. I’m not planning anything against anybody but I don’t know where all these things are coming from.
“Let it be put on record, whoever masterminded this thing (referring to the fire incident) is trying to shift…
“I heard some people gathered here to do whatever. That is purely rubbish.”
He also said he does not care about being impeached but vowed to resist an unjust process.
