Nigeria Labour Congress officials and representatives of the Civil Society has blocked the entrance to Federal Secretariat and National Assembly over displeasure in the hike of fuel price.
The officials all have placards with several inscriptions such as #BringBackOurRefineries; #LetThePoorBreathe; #ALUTACONTINUA.
Currently, the protesters have blocked the roads leading to the Federal High Court, Transcorp Hotel; Federal Secretariat Phase 1 amongst others.
They also vowed to sustain their “peaceful protests” until the government takes them seriously.
According to Punch reports, the Federal Ministry of Justice through its Permanent Secretary, Jeddy Agba, had filed a motion to prevent the protest.
Following this, the security agencies are on a show of force around the Federal Ministry of Justice where officials of the Nigeria Labour Congress, representatives of the Civil Society are protesting.
According to reports, the exercise was part of the measures put in place to ensure that the march wasn’t hijacked by non-state actors.
