Possible apprehension and tension is alleged to be gripping the lawmaker representing Aniocha North constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Engr Emeka Nwobi, following news of other prospective aspirants jostling to unseat him in the forth coming Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries later in the year.
Emeka Nwobi, who was alleged to have stolen the mandate legitimately won by Uzoma Idabor (aka UZ), in the PDP primaries of 2014, is so tensed and agitated over the looming realization that he would be defeated in his bid for a second term, following the revelation of what he did to UZ as well as his poor performance in the House as Lawmaker.
Sources revealed that Emeka Nwobi allegedly paid the sum of N45m through one Dumebi Kachikwu, a middle man allegedly fronting for the then PDP national chairman, Muazu and Secondus, to replace UZ, the winner of the 2014 PDP Aniocha North House of Assembly primaries.
Close family sources also affirm that ironically, UZ is an Inlaw to Emeka Nwobi and Kachikwu and yet Emeka Nwaobi did not feel any remorse when he stabbed his inlaw in the back and betrayed him with what the source described as trumped allegations, in other to fulfil his vaunting ambition.
Aniocha North people, according to sources within the LGA, have already fingered him as the main instigator in the raging political crisis that has recently engulfed the PDP in the area and are now wondering what Emeka Nwobi is likely to do and to what extent he would go to remain in office, if he can betray UZ by stealing his mandate with N45m. What of Osi Okocha? , adding that nobody knows where the hope of Aniocha North lies, now that there is a serious fight against corruption which Secondus is aware of, in addition to the fact that there are whistle blowers everywhere.
The alleged information that Gov. Wike signed an undertaken with some Northern PDP elders, that Prince Uche Secondus as PDP chairman will not repeat what allegedly transpired under Muazu where some candidates that originally won primaries were replaced with highest bidder, has however gladdened the hearts of many Aniocha North prospective aspirants and the electorate too, as there is now renewed confidence in the party that this year will be different for the rebranded PDP, taking cognizance of another source which said that Aniocha North people are also happy that Delta state Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has been repeatedly reported as saying that there will be be free, fair and credible primaries this year.
Engr. Nwobi has apparently also shot himself in the foot when he was quoted in a reported interview with Anioma Voice, an online newspaper, that Chief Nkem Okwuofu (aka Agu Nwayi), the recognized godmother of Government, that he had an issue with her since after promising him automatic ticket for his second tenure, for his support in returning Council Chairman Chuks Oseme, despite the fact that he, Nwaobi had described Oseme as “under-performing”.
The question which discerning sources are asking now is: why is Emeka Nwobi afraid of election? They have also advised that he should stop fighting party elders and face the electorate, instead of heating up the polity with his blackmailing allegations and thinking of bribing Dumebi Kachikwu with billions who is already claiming he will be the Returning Officer in PDP primaries to steal his way to achieve his political ambition of seizing the political structure in Aniocha North stressing that they have further advised him to stop tagging any other person coming out as being sponsored, unless he himself was ready to admit that he had been sponsored in his own election and if he was, why is he now afraid of level playing field?
Also, sources within Aniocha North hint that there is palpable anger in the area over the claims by Emeka Nwaobi that he is close to governor Okowa and Uche Secondus and so he is untouchable. They have equally advised that he should stop claiming to be closer to Gov Okowa than anyone else since the governor is an impartial man, whose word is his bond adding that Gov Okowa (aka Ekwume) will win Aniocha North 100% without Emeka Nwobi, even as they noted that the lawmaker representing Aniocha North is a failed and drowning man, who wants to pull Party leaders down with him.
