Delta state governorship tribunal has dismissed the petition filed by the former deputy Senate president, Ovie Omo-Agege, challenging the victory of Sheriff Oborevwori as the Governor of the state.
The three-member tribunal headed by Chibuzo Ahuchaogu, on Friday, September 29, noting that the petition filed by the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate was dismissed for lacking merit.
The tribunal noted that the issues raised were speculative since the petitioners failed to prove allegations of non-compliance with the Electoral Act, and corrupt practices beyond a reasonable doubt.
Omo-Agege who came second in the March 18 election challenged the declaration of Oborevwori as winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Recall that Oborevwori of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defeated Omo-Agege of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the March 18, 2023 governorship election.
The PDP candidate polled 360, 234 votes while Omo-Agege secured 240, 229 votes.
