Maiduguri, the capital city of Borno State, has been severely inundated with floodwaters following the collapse of the Alau Dam on Tuesday morning.
From Videos circulating the Internet, it could be seen that the flood has left a significant portion of the city submerged underwater, causing widespread destruction and displacement.
The current flooding is being compared to the 1994 floods, with residents saying it’s even worse this time around.
A video shared by Nigerian Television Authority on Tuesday, September 10, reveals multiple people stranded and unable to return to their homes due to the severe flooding.
Hundreds of families have lost their homes, forcing many to spend the night outdoors.
