The Deputy Controller of the Maximum Correctional Center in Kirikiri, Lagos, Michael Anukwa has revealed no Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras at the Kirikiri Medium Correctional Center.
He made this statement on Monday, September 30, 2024, during a House of Representatives committee inquiry into allegations of corruption within the correctional service. The inquiry was prompted by claims from popular socialite VeryDarkMan (VDM) regarding the circumstances surrounding the imprisonment of crossdresser Idris Okuneye a.k.a Bobrisky.
During questioning by federal lawmakers, Anukwa publicly acknowledged the absence of CCTV surveillance at the facility. This admission raises serious concerns about the security measures in place at the correctional center and further tarnishes the reputation of the correctional service.
