An unprecedented crowd of supporters on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 thronged Akwukwu Igbo, headquarters of Oshimili North Local Government Area, to be part of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) campaign rally led by the State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.
Speaking during the event, Governor Okowa urged members of the PDP to remain united to achieve victory at the polls at all levels during this years general elections.
The Governor, who was accompanied to Akwukwu Igbo by his wife, Dame Edith, his running mate, Burutu Otuaro, and other top politicians in the state, stated that with unity and cooperation, the PDP will win in all the elections billed for February 16 and March 2, 2019.
He challenged the people to check any form of electoral malpractice, saying, “there will be no room for rigging, there should be close monitoring of the elections because, our votes must count, collect your Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs), encourage others to get theirs; we should get all the votes that we can.”
Excited with the huge turnout of Deltans at the ceremony, Governor Okowa expressed confidence that he may be returned unopposed by the people as his main opponent in the elections may join his campaign train.
In his address to the people, the Senator representing Delta North in the National Assembly, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, assured the Governor of 100% votes, stressing that the party will not loose in any unit in the local government.
Renowned gospel musician, Chioma Jesus, and Ogbogu Okonji were on ground to thrill the enthusiast crowd.
Some of those who spoke at the rally include Chief Austin Izagbor, Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, Prince Ned Nwoko and Barr. Kingsley Esiso.
