The Edo state chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has given the nod to its aggrieved members to leave the party if they cannot key into the ongoing reconciliation by the It’s national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
The APC made its position known at the end of a meeting of the State Working Committee of the party held last Wednesday at its state secretariat in Benin City.
In a statement signed by the state publicity secretary of the party, Chris Azebamwen said that the recent defections in the party was expected given that it is an election year noting that it has made the party stronger.
While assuring party members that machinery has been put in place to address all grievances, the statement said, “in Edo State, we recognize that there are ardent and passionate members of our Party who are legitimately aggrieved and we have put machinery in place to reach out to them. However, there exist in our midst, fifth columnists who are inconsolable arising from their selfish personal interest; for these ones, we are resolved to adopt the position of the National Chairman and let them go their way.
“We fully support the efforts of our National Chairman to pacify and redress genuine grievances, and to let go those whose demands are driven essentially by selfish personal and divisive interests that are designed to polarize and factionalize our Party the APC.”
Meanwhile a group of Edo APC members loyal to Kwankwaso has resigned their membership of the party.
In a press release signed by the Caucus chairman, Chief John Osemede Adun, AKA Bob Izua and Coordinate, Hon. Harrison Omagbon, said the group has over five hundred thousand members across the eighteen Local Government Areas of the State.
