Isoko North House of Assembly hopeful on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Israel Okpure Akegwure has dismissed rumours of his stepping down from the contest, saying “I am not stepping down for any aspirant”.
Akegwure who is projected to clinch the party’s ticket at the primary election, described as spurious and false the claims and comments by his detractors of his backing out from the race.
His rebuttal on the ugly trend was contained in a press release obtained by our correspondent where he emphasized that stepping down has never appeared to him either through revelations or physical thoughts.
Akegwure reassured his supporters across Isoko North that he is still very much in the race and had never given a thought of backing out.
He frowned at the level of pettiness by his opponents to attribute his absence from public engagements to be an act of backing out. “I am sorry, I have been unavailable for the past days, as I had to settle with delegates on personal ground. I am fully back to public engagements and ready to run the race with grace to the finish line. So saddle up your horses, and let us win this together for Isoko North. Let us make history together, and make Isoko North great again. God bless you all”.
While reassuring his supporters that he will not let them down, Akegwure pledged that he is very ready to win the primaries and pressed them to shield their hearts from rumour peddlers. “Please pay no heed to mischief makers, and saboteurs of true democracy. I never back out from a fight and would not start now”.
