The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended its National Vice Chairman (South South), Chief Dan Orbih, pending the outcome of an investigation into his activities and utterances regarding the upcoming Edo State governorship election.
The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) made the decision at its 588th meeting on Wednesday, citing Orbih’s actions and statements as inconsistent with the PDP’s constitution and the demands of his office.
A six-member committee headed by Deputy National Chairman (South) Amb. Taofeek Arapaja has been set up to investigate the matter. Orbih will not be allowed to participate in any NWC meetings, activities, or programs until the investigation is complete.
The party commended the support of the people of Edo State, who are largely behind the party’s candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, in the September 21 governorship election. The party urged its leaders, stakeholders, and members in Edo State to remain united and focused on securing victory for the PDP.
This development comes as the party prepares for the crucial governorship election in Edo State, with the suspension of Orbih seen as a move to maintain discipline and unity within the party’s ranks.
