Frontline gubernatorial aspirant for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in Delta State, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei has met with stakeholders of the party in Isoko nation where he sought for their support in the forth coming party primary.
Addressing the party faithfuls on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 in Iyede, Isoko North local government area, Ochei stated that he started his consultations in Isoko nation because Isoko nation is an integral part of Delta politics and that Isoko nation can make you or mar any aspirant/candidate if not well managed.
He stressed that even in the face of evident issues rocking the party at the moment; the Isoko nation has risen above political sentiments by coming together as one for the good of the state.
The gubernatorial aspirant aligned with the party’s choice of direct primaries stressing that, “it is the beginning of the internal party democracy, as the party has given back power to the people to decide for themselves”.
Continuing, Ochei said, “I talk practical and not political and I don’t like the word ‘change’ but rather ‘progressive positive change’ stressing that, “I am depressed by what I see in our state, not that we do not have the resources but that we don’t have the managers to transform this state. It is not enough to come and commission other peoples projects and since I left the Delta State House of Assembly, absolutely nothing has been added to it and no star project has been started and completed by Governor Okowa’s administration till date. We need the right managers.”
Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei who is battling for the party’s ticket with fellow aspirants from Delta North, Delta South and Delta Central, said that Delta North has only four years left and that Okowa has already wasted the initial four zoned to it, stressing that he has come on board to enable APC finish the remaining four years.
“Anybody from Delta North who tries to go beyond one term, the faith of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan will befall him. Okowa is actually a man of one term all through his political career, so let it be a Northern who understands the system, someone that understands their tricks to take over this State. We must be united and must use the right tools.” Ochei urged the stakeholders.
