The head coach of the Nigeria Men’s Handball Senior Team, Rafiu Salami, has unveiled the roster of his final 16-man squad for the upcoming African Cup of Nations in Cairo, Egypt.
The 26th African Men’s Handball Championships is scheduled for January 17th to 27th, 2024, in Egypt.
The squad comprises three goalkeepers, nine defenders, five midfielders, and eight forwards. Goalkeepers include Michael Agbaji (Benin Republic-based), Obinna Okwor (Confluence Stars), and Abass Muhammed (Niger United). Centre Back positions feature Ibrahim Dikko and Hakeem Salami from Adidja.
Among the notable selections, debutants for the senior national team are Abass Muhammed, Ibrahim Dikko, Joseph Gbawuan, Daniel Bello, John Shagari, Hakeem Salami, Andrew Ojo, and Osamwonyi Olaye.
The Golden Arrows initiate their campaign against Angola on Wednesday, January 17th, in Group D. Subsequent matches include encounters with Tunisia on January 19th and Kenya on January 21st.
